As you remember, earlier this month I blogged about the challenged of me where I talked a little bit about my previous challenged or should I say my first challenged after I graduated from college (my being the former SK Municipal Federation president of Pastrana Leyte not counted) and gave you hint to my new challenge.
Its been more than two (2) weeks since I started working on my new challenge but in that times I already experienced super-duper CRAZYness. NOTE: Not only me!!! But all of us!!! My co-workers!!!
To give you a little information, I am working on a newly opened Arabian restaurant located at Ermita Manila where our boss, our managers, our chefs and almost all our guest are Arabians. We are working twelve (12) hours a day but as of July 19, 2012 upto this day we worked nine (9) hours a day because of Ramadan, they are Muslims! We have twenty-one (21) days training, from July 14-August 5 for me with two (2) days rest day. For our twenty-one (21) days training our rate is only 250PhP per day.
On our second day duty, July 19, we worked straight nine (9) hours with NO MEAL BREAK. One of the staff talked to our manager that in her previous worked there are always one (1) hour lunch break and thirty (30) minutes break every duty and she almost quit the job for that. That's why our manager started to give us thirty (30) minutes break starting on our third duty, July 20. As of today, we worked nine(9) hours per work day with only thirty (30) minutes break or meal time but the Labor Code of the Philippines indicated that... (refer below)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Title I
Working Conditions and Rest Periods
Chapter I
Hours of Work
Art. 83. Normal hours of work. The normal hours of work of any employee shall not exceed eight (8) hours a day.
Art. 84. Hours worked.
Hours worked shall include (a) all time during which an employee is
required to be on duty or to be at a prescribed workplace; and (b) all
time during which an employee is suffered or permitted to work.
Rest periods of short duration during working hours shall be counted as hours worked.
Art. 85. Meal periods.
Subject to such regulations as the Secretary of Labor may prescribe, it
shall be the duty of every employer to give his employees not less than
sixty (60) minutes time-off for their regular meals.
Aside from the work hours we also experience na sigawan at mapahiya sa harap ng ibang tao. Okay lang sana kong sa harap lang ng mga Arabo pero panu if that time may kumakain na Pinoy? TSK!
If only if...
They don't have a concrete rules and regulations. They also change their minds every now and then.
I respect (before) Sir E (the owner) as a person so much because he's like my father. Someone that has a strong aura but have a soft heart. But now, I just respect him as my boss, takot pa nga ako sa kanya ngayon eh. Because one time na-experience ko na hinila niya ako papasok sa kitchen (thankz PapaGod dahil sa kitchen not outside unlike sa iba kung kasama na sa labas napapahiya) at pinagalitan or sinigawan niya ako. Okay! My fault! Hindi ko pa din kasi alam that time that humos and bread should be serve together and sinabihan din ako ng kitchen people na sige, unahin mo ng i-serve yan to follow na lang bread dahil sobrang tagal na nun. Super iniyakan ko yon because even my father didn't do it to me. No one has the right to do it to me. Yes, he is paying me but i'm working for it! Sana nga totoo ang sinabi niya na HE RESPECT GIRLS. But for this, it's a NO. Sorry.. Ang pagsigaw..Ang pagpapahiya sa harap ng ibang tao.. It's a BIG NO!
If only if...
Tiyaga na lang muna habang wala pang malilipatan.
Sabi nila, kapag daw foreigner may-ari ng business, sobrang sinusunod ang Labor Code ng Pilipinas but as for this I'm not sure. Anyway, sabi nga nila TRAINING pa lang daw. In my more than two weeks in this restaurant wala pa akong nakikitang DTI, Mayor permit and any other business permits. And the receipt they use has no TIN number, etchetera. The receipt only indicate..
THE ARABIAN KITCHEN
then orders..
at the bottom total bill
I asked our cashier if that was our official receipt and she told me na for TRAINING purposes pa lang daw.
As of yesterday, one of my co-workers informed us na magdadagdag daw ng another fifteen (15) days training dahil "magulo" pa daw. Is it really magulo or what? I don't know. As far as we know, sa ibang restaurant may three (3) to ten (10) days training lang. And for this restaurant.. EWAN!!!
I hope they have one word! Like kung panu sila kadaling magpaalis ng employee.
I can say, they don't have CARE for there employees.
I know, there is a big chance that someone from the restaurant or whoever that is connected in that restaurant may read this, it's okay. This is my personal opinion. This is my way of FREEDOM of SPEECH because I'm living here in the Philippines. I'm still connected in that restaurant, YES. Kung tanggalin man nila ako dahil dito, sana lang.. sana lang talaga yong time na may sure na akong lilipatan.
I'm doing my best but I think my best is not enough for them.

I'm not already connected on the Restaurant. Thank you God! :)

Pero bago ako umalis, nasigawan muna ako ng dalawang boss (the owner and the manager). What the way of saying goodbye? CRAZY!!!
